Azerbaijan Sets Target of 6 GW Renewable Capacity by 2030

Azerbaijan aims for 6 gigawatts of solar and wind capacity by 2030 per President Aliyev, nearly doubling current 8 gigawatt installed capacity.

Renewable expansion conserves natural gas for export by replacing domestic electricity generation. By 2030, renewables will comprise 30 percent of energy mix.

Since 2020, partnerships with Masdar, ACWA Power, BP, Total Energies, and Fortescue Industries advance renewable projects.

Azerbaijan receives 2,400-3,200 annual sunshine hours with 1,500-2,000 kWh/m² intensity. Wind potential reaches 3,000 MW technically and 800 MW economically.

2024 saw 80 percent year-on-year green energy growth, producing 3,580.6 million kWh.
