Azerbaijan's first utility-scale solar facility, the 230 MW Garadagh plant, became operational in late 2023, marking a historic milestone in the country's renewable energy development.
Developed by UAE's Masdar, Garadagh represents the largest solar complex in the Caspian and CIS regions. The facility demonstrates technical feasibility and commercial viability of large-scale solar power in Azerbaijan.
Masdar also developing additional facilities: a 315 MW Neftchala solar plant, 445 MW Bilasuvar solar plant, and 240 MW Absheron-Garadagh wind farm, collectively adding over 1 gigawatt capacity.
The Garadagh success established foundations for subsequent renewable projects, proving Azerbaijan's solar potential while attracting international investors. Operational data informs future project planning and grid integration strategies.
