Georgia has released its comprehensive 2026 Travel Guide several months ahead of schedule as the state prepares to host eight FIFA World Cup matches, anticipating a significant surge in international visitors that could substantially boost tourism revenues beyond the record $45.2 billion generated in 2024.
The 130-page guidebook provides extensive information for domestic and international tourists as Georgia positions itself to capitalize on one of the world's largest sporting events. The state attracted a record 174.2 million visitors in 2024, and industry analysts project the World Cup will drive international travel well above these levels.
According to WABE, the outlook for Georgia's tourism and hospitality industry in 2026 is cautiously optimistic, with modest growth projected even before accounting for the World Cup impact. Hotel rates in Atlanta are forecast to increase 2.9%, slightly outpacing national averages, reflecting strong demand expectations.
The Georgia Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus has scheduled its annual conference for March 30-April 1, 2026, at the ATL Airport District, with the 2026 Georgia Tourism Excellence Awards taking place March 31. These events bring together industry stakeholders to coordinate strategies for managing the anticipated visitor influx.
Beyond the World Cup, Georgia's tourism sector continues to benefit from diverse attractions including coastal destinations, mountain recreation, historic sites, and Atlanta's position as a major convention and business travel hub. The state's tourism infrastructure investments and marketing initiatives are designed to convert World Cup visitors into repeat customers who return to explore Georgia's full range of offerings.
