The World Bank approved a $350 million initiative to strengthen Azerbaijan's energy infrastructure through the AZURE project. This program modernizes the electrical grid and facilitates renewable energy integration.
AZURE focuses on expanding transmission lines and substations, connecting the 240-megawatt Absheron-Garadagh Wind Power Plant while strengthening the high-voltage network to evacuate up to 1 gigawatt of renewable power.
World Bank Country Manager Stefanie Stallmeister stated this project enables reliable, sustainable electricity delivery. The initiative creates a foundation for Azerbaijan's green energy corridor vision.
By enhancing transmission capacity, AZURE will integrate 1.8 gigawatts of renewable electricity through private investments, attracting further capital and supporting economic growth.
