Armenia Rises to 59th Place in Global Innovation Index

Armenia achieved 59th place in the 2025 Global Innovation Index, improving four positions from last year. The UN World Intellectual Property Organization report evaluates 139 nations' innovation capabilities.

Armenia now ranks ahead of Azerbaijan (94th) and Iran (70th), though behind Russia (51st), Georgia (56th), and Turkey (43rd). This reflects sustained innovation and investment attraction efforts.

IT-focused companies more than doubled while sector employment increased 30 percent. The fintech sector grows at 25 percent annually, with the Central Bank's regulatory sandbox attracting $90 million in investments.

Success stories include Picsart (first unicorn in 2021), Krisp, SuperAnnotate, and Podcastle. Last month, Yerevan hosted the World Congress on Innovation & Technology featuring Moderna and Nvidia executives.
