Italian power producer Dolomiti Energia Group has secured €200 million ($232.3 million) in debt financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support its renewable energy and grid infrastructure investments.
The funding, formally signed October 9, 2025, will accelerate Dolomiti's expansion in hydroelectric, solar, and wind power generation, as well as modernization of electricity distribution networks in northern Italy.
Dolomiti Energia, which serves over 2 million customers, plans to use the funds to develop new renewable capacity and upgrade grid infrastructure to accommodate increasing renewable energy integration. The company operates 29 hydroelectric plants and is expanding its solar and wind portfolio.
'This financing demonstrates the EIB's commitment to supporting Europe's energy transition,' said an EIB representative. 'Dolomiti's investments will enhance grid resilience and increase renewable capacity, contributing to Italy's climate goals.'
The investment comes as Italy accelerates its renewable energy deployment to meet EU climate targets. The country aims to generate 65% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, up from approximately 42% currently.
Dolomiti plans to invest over €1 billion in renewable energy and grid infrastructure over the next five years, with the EIB financing forming a crucial component of this strategy.
